How to Manage Personal Collections and Playlists

A Playlist is a compilation of audio and video content grouped in logical order for sequential viewing. A Collection is an advanced form that can also include images, documents, and quizzes alongside audio and video.

A Personal Collection or Playlist differs from a standard one in that only the creator can view, manage, and share it with others.

NOTE: All steps for creating, managing, and viewing Personal Collections and Playlists are the same. The only difference is in the Playlist-specific settings described in the Edit section below.

Prerequisites​

Before you begin, ensure you:

  • Belong to a group with Private Collection and Playlist permission enabled

Create Personal Collection or Playlist​

  1. Navigate to Media Library by selecting the search icon.
  2. Select the overflow menu (⋮) on the media you want to add.
  3. Select one of the following:
    • Add to My Playlist - Creates a Personal Playlist
    • Add to My Collection - Creates a Personal Collection
  4. Enter a Title for the new collection or playlist, or select an existing one.
  5. Select Add.

View Personal Collections or Playlists​

  1. Select your username in the top-right corner.
  2. Select My Playlist or My Collection.

All your personal collections or playlists and their media are listed.

Add or Remove Content​

Add Content​

From Media Library:

  1. Select the overflow menu (⋮) on the media.
  2. Select Add to My Collection or Add to My Playlist.
  3. Select the checkbox next to the collection or playlist name.

From Playback Page:

Select the Add to Collection or Add to Playlist button.

Remove Content​

  1. Navigate to My Collections or My Playlists.
  2. Select the collection or playlist from where you want to remove media.
  3. The collection edit page appears with all media listed.
  4. Select the overflow menu (⋮) on the media to remove.
  5. Select Remove.

Reorder Media​

  1. From the My Collection or My Playlist tab, select the collection or playlist in which reordering is needed.
  2. Select the Reorder button.
  3. Drag and drop media to the desired position.

A toast notification appears confirming the media has been reordered successfully.

Playback​

  1. Select the Personal Collection or Playlist.
  2. Select the thumbnail of the Personal Collection or Playlist to open the playback page where you can watch the content.

Edit Settings​

Personal Collection​

  1. Select the overflow menu (⋮) on the Personal Collection.
  2. Select Settings to navigate to the Settings page.
  3. In the Basic Settings tab, update the following attributes:
    • Title
    • Category
    • Tags
    • Description

Personal Playlist​

The Publish tab for Personal Playlists provides additional settings:

  • Enforce Order - Forces viewers to completely view each media before moving to the next file in the playlist. When enabled, media listed later in the playlist appears disabled (greyed out) and is not available for viewing until previous items are completed.

  • Auto-Advance - Enables viewers to watch media one after another without having to manually select from the list.

  • Loop - The playlist loops back to the first item after playing the last media. All media files continue to play in a loop until the playlist is manually paused or stopped.

Share​

  1. Open the Personal Collection or Playlist Settings.
  2. Navigate to the Sharing tab.
  3. Select Share.
  4. The Limited Share screen opens, allowing you to share with external users. Configure:
    • Email addresses of recipients
    • Number of times users can access the content
    • Duration after which access expires
  5. Select Save Changes.

NOTE: The user to whom the license is assigned becomes part of VIDIZMO's Public Portal where they can only view the media shared with them.

Delete​

  1. Select the overflow menu (⋮) on the collection or playlist you wish to delete.
  2. Select Delete.
